primitive trust is the coming together of two experienced musical minds. in one corner is will saul of the influential aus music empire, and in the other is tom mangan, aka tee mango, the producer who started millionhands record and clothing label. the pair met many moons ago and reconnected recently at a festival in morocco. they bonded over music, lunch and shared family travails - and as they both now live in somerset decided a little local studio collaboration seemed all but essential. between them, these consumate country gentlemen have seen plenty a musical styles come and go, so decided their best route forward would be to make music to please themselves. to that end, they holed themselves up in tee mangos woodshed studio with the following ground rules: they would make music only with the gear they had (mpc 2000, ableton, roland 101, juno, fender rhodes, various fx pedals) they would trust their instincts and go with first feelings they would embrace the joy of randomness if in doubt they would ask what would carl do? with that, you have the simple but effective mo of primitive trust. these sessions have resulted in a series of three eps to be released over the course of four months. each ep will feature 2 or 3 original tracks and one fresh remix, with unique artwork and an illustration by all-around visual auteur geoff mcfetridge. using the building blocks of house, and classic techno primitive trust can do zoned out and romantic, as much as driving and heady, but with an ease that comes from experience, years in the making. while tipping their proverbial hats to the past they also look to the future with their sound, mixing samples, wigged out synthwork and propulsive rhythms to create something honest and heartfelt that will stand the test of time

quantum collage is the latest pseudonym of olaf gutbrod aka ohm-g. having built a reputation around his long list of chill out tracks produced while resident in ibiza, this release on martin gretschmann (acid pauli, console) and nico stojan�s ouïe sees him dive into some more electronic textures. �lucid dreaming� is a chugging, groovy trip built around a shuffling beat and dubbed out percussion and horns, tapping into gutbrod�s talent for amplifying the vibe. �afrika im weltraum� adds a little more tempo - a swirling, driving drum loop provides the basis for layers of extra percussion and spacey synths and various chants and radio broadcasts. her beauty certainly draws on some the mastery gutbrod showed in his releases on café del mar and hotel costes cds - a chilled out groover with the sunset / sunrise seemingly in mind.

seth troxler�s agenda setting play it say it label is back with more summer heat, this time from detroit based duo ataxia. hailing from detroit, this pair has recently played the famous movement festival in their home city for the fifth time, work with top labels like nervous records and culprit la and have already impressed with a fine ep on leftroom this year. their sound is designed to get the party started, and after already releasing on this label in 2016 they are now back with three more essential tracks. up first, the terrific �time original� is a fluid and wriggling tech cut with busy synth lines scurrying about over driving drums. it�s dark and freaky with poised chord stabs and the whole thing cannot fail to get floors moving. then comes �supertouch�, which is a superbly slick acid number. weird bleeps and clipped vocals add an unhinged edge to the urgent rubbery drums and the whole thing is a mind melting number that will take any set to the next level. last of all is the vital �villains�, seven inventive minutes of gurgling bass, alien sound design and wonky synth lines that all warp around each other and melt your mind as they do so. colourful and full of character thanks to a rapped vocal line, this one is a real party anthem in the making. across all three cuts here this talented duo really show off their wide range of studio skills in some style.

there are not many conventional rules in the world of dutch dj/producer dj marcelle/another nice mess, or they have to be her own, but which she is more than happy to break at any time she fancies. for the past 15 years she has been travelling around europe and beyond, playing her brave three turntable sets in front of often both stunned, surprised and euphoric audiences. she is an original, skilled mixer, with a very distinctive style of her own, avoiding most dj-cliches and stale rules.

the record is focused around 4 subterranean tracks which alternate between intense moments of epic mythology and more ambiental and introspective passages, with sound artifacts found in the various secret chambers and pharaonic tombs. a journey with analogic vs digital rhythms, dreamy pads, minimalistic and ritual details, enigmatic drones, mummified keys and synths submerged in millennial history and archaic poetry. an experience for the intrepid travelers of the past and future times.

we follow up our debut release by stl with a dancefloor oriented ep by scotsman cain. for those new to cain, a regular on highlife records (a sub-label of huntleys & palmers), you have been missing out. he�s known for fusing his love of traditional music from around the world with infectiously rhythmic drum pattern writing, stand-out melodies and futuristic bass work. and this release is no different. seeing as we are a record label based in the middle east, cain jumped on the opportunity to dig for arabic influenced drums and rhythms to build the ep around. the results are dope! and just in time for the summer season.

south african house and synth-funk from the kwaito era by the legendary senyaka kekana. the unexpected deep house jam bayanyonyoba (1993) and the illustrious soul song dont judge me bad (1987) are big rh favorites. original copies are absolutely impossible to find, now released on 12inch for the first time. beautiful sleeve by stenze quo! esa williams i had the pleasure of performing alongside senyaka at the alexander theatre, johannesburg back in 2012 which would have probably been his last most iconic gig before his passing in 2015. these two tracks really showcase the sounds of south africa around the early to late 80�s, the influences from american synth pop and house that would then lead later into many of these records being played at the wrong speed which ultimately became the original kwaito sound from south africa

for its 3rd release, the other planet presents worth way. embark with him on this journey to discovery. a universe full of poetry accompanied by rhythms with lo-fi accents.
this ep was created throughout adventures into the australian wilderness. whilst hiking and driving around mountains, forests and beaches, inspirations were drawn from emotions and connections that were felt in these settings. the tracks reflect the physical and psychological catharsis that can be induced in a landscape that has seen minimal human activity.

as shadows pass as the name suggests, reflects on a sound that has been around for years yet not prevalent in the present era. shadows move and alter over time but their essence remains the same, as it is with the direction of asp and the philosophy of the music it represents.

�umwelt�s 12inch �� city� from 1999 was one of the most impressive 12inches i had at that time and i played the shit out of it. it was dark and very emotional, it was abstract but also driving at the same time. this was 1999 though, before discogs and before facebook and all the other platforms people have now to do research on artists they like and follow their work. at that time it was the record shop � and that was it. nobody knew this guy though, and i didn�t get my hands on any of the following releases, so in my world there was no follow-up to this record ever and i thought it would remain a one-off gem in my record box. until by some coincident i recently discovered he was still around and had actually released numerous releases in the meantime. i was very excited and contacted him straight away and ended up booking him for krake festival in the same year. undoubtedly his set was one of the best of the whole festival! he took the roof off the place with his mix of raw electro, industrial and rave and everybody was talking about it afterwards, saying it was the highlight of the festival! talking to him i learnt, that most of the tracks he played were his own, mostly unreleased. he produces without computers, all his tracks are single takes, there is no editing, no mixing afterwards, he only has a stereo track recording which is what it is. he owns a cutting machine which he uses to cut dubplates from his tracks, which he then plays out during his sets. this whole information about this very unique artistic approach just killed it for me, and since working with him was so nice as well, i asked him for a demo for killekill and its labels and was hoping for tracks i could make a great 12&#8243,, of. i got 14 tracks and after weeks of trying to pick the best, i finally realized i held one of the best electro albums ever in my hand � banging beats and the balls to go big and epic, subtle melodies, drama, funk � this album has got it all, and what�s most important, the music on it is the exact opposite of so much other music nowadays: it is emotional, it tells a story, it is easily recognizable and it is not interchangeable. it�s just umwelt.� nico deuster

t.v. baby is a project that came to life during 2016 in a makeshift hideaway deep within a remote corridor of industrial new york city. the romantic isolation of their decaying surroundings leant its vibe to the otherwise occupied musicians as they intuitively explored their formative musical experiences, while playing at shifting their roles around within the band. from these changing dynamics the close friends debut album dignity dont dance was born. it comes on the label deus records, an imprint that continues the great independent ny tradition of dropping highly danceable music with rootsy, rock n roll swagger.

following the success of �ride� with miss kittin, eminent sci+tec founder dubfire returns with another chaos-conjuring techno composition. previously the sole-preserve of his epic sense-blurring hybrid show, dubfire is finally unleashing �dust devil�� his first solo release in several years, �dust devil� is all about precision momentum. a move that dubfire�s made his signature, you can physically feel movement and destination throughout. especially as we reach the short breakdown where the riff revolves faster and higher, providing space for the echoed stabs that whirl and twist around you intensely. as the drums re-ignite, the riff is suddenly converted into groove energy as the jack-minded persistence brings the elements back together with pure focus. this is what ali has to say� �this was an instrumental i had done that i wasn�t quite sure what to do with. it wasn�t strong enough for a lead single and it always felt as though there was something missing, perhaps a spoken or sung vocal. so i sort of put it out of my mind until it was time to compile the music for the hybrid show back in the summer of 2013. once i had the backbone of the set list, along with the visual look, there seemed to be a more defined mood and look. and when i happened upon this track again it seemed to have been tailor-made for this show. it was also nice to insert something no one had heard before to break things up a bit.

it took me a couple of years get invited to christophe de groot�s (aka circadian rhythms) homebase, and a couple more years to dive into his sonic archive. but time tells and basic moves 02 is what came out. the two tracks were recorded at earguard studio in brussels around 1996, at a moment when his interest was moving away from club music towards other golden musical horizons. �frequency� is a macro tech-house track in mid tempo.
i�m super happy i could archive it on wax because we almost fucked up the master dat tape by blowing up the player during a marathon listening session at his place. we had to open the device, unroll the tape across his house (full of records) and fold it back into the mini dat cassette. after a few hours and twenty metres of tape, the problem was solved and the tracks archived: �a dose of authenticity at a time of post-counter-cultural stagnation�. �house speaker call� originated in proto-techno forms. christophe never sees techno as a type of music but as a process. as a producer, collector and deejay he always dives deep into authentic forms of electronic music. deg�s antic personality shines out in the middle of the harsh beat-driven electro/techno track like a hopeful melody passing by on its elliptic orbit. tune your cells into his vibrations and get ready for these two timeless club tracks.

alexx a-game makes his return to swing ting after last year�s �a-game everyday� & �gangsters� with the soulfully poignant �braver�. the 7� is the 1st physical drop on fact magazine�s label of 2016, following well-received equiknoxx & madd again! releases in 2017. in 2015 swing ting�s samrai & platt received a tune from alexx�s manager, �braver� asking if they�d be able to contribute to the production on the track. listening to the stems, it became apparent how amazing alexx�s vocal delivery sounded stripped to just the rhodes & bassline played by frequent a-game collaborator & fellow jamaican vern hill. after adding effects and flourishes the crew began playing the �smooth edit� on swing ting radio shows and at dj sets around the globe.

chicagoan artist vincent floyd has been releasing music for 27 years now. with stand-out records for the legendary dance mania and some more recent outings through amsterdam connaisseurs rush hour recordings, vincent floyd crafted a 4-track package of original cuts, which will be released as the seventh instalment in the pulp series. the vigorous sounds of �circles (dub)� consist out of loose percussion, piercing synth work and a snappy vocal that cuts through at just the right moments. in the classic style of a sizable amount of dance records throughout the earlier days of dancefloor-music, an instrumental version of �circles� is including on the a2 position. �skewed reality� is an extravert piece of music that revolves around an emotive synth lead and nicely timed drums with a very human feel to them. the soothing pads form the back bone of this journey through exalted melodies. �morning storm� serves as the pulp07 grand finale. in this cut vincent again showcases his ability to mould many melodic elements into a cohesive sounding piece of music. �morning storm� is a bright piece of work with delicate melodies and beautiful playful drum patterns.

moscow based multi-talent impish has been steadily honing his skills since 2013 working through labels such as program, fokuz recordings and his own fast rising occulti music imprint. it s that last label that saw him release the critically acclaimed silence lp back in 2016. fast forward to the summer of 2017 and a new album project the hush lp is set for release through all quality physical electronic music outlets around the world.

binaural arts - the soul, creativity, or love put into something. the label was founded in romania in 2014, by plusculaar, born in the city bucharest. for the last ten years plusculaar has been a vital part of the romanian underground scene, producing unique sounds, focusing on the healing frequency of music, transmitted through feelings. the label today is now joint owned by himself and kirsty sharpe, both sharing a pasion for vinyl recods, they took the label to the next step, vinyl only. the first release is a various artists compilation of talent from around the world that we saw fitted the sound of pure underground.

london�s ghost writerz are back with a banger! following a slew of releases on tru thoughts and a recent mixtape -welcome to ghost town- heating up the streets, jimmy screech and sleepy time ghost return with a big splash on nice up! records. based around a familiar reggae riddim, the track tells the tale of jimmy�s foundation in soundsystem culture, starting in the 80s and name-checking legends such as shabba ranks, yellowman, smiley culture along the way. as the riddim flips we shift forward a generation, 90s dancehall and rap dominate, giving props to hip hop royalty such as busta rhymes and 2pac, then finally firing off a huge jungle climax, dripping in enough amen breaks to set the dancefloor alight whilst giving a little history of the musical heritage behind ghost writerz.

it�s been two years since jef k�s excellent silver network label was in action, so it�s great to see the french mainstay back in action, and with the excellent shade on board no less. the london-based artist brings an addictive, chicago-tinged kind of deep house to the table with �london social club�, all mr fingers bass and deeper-than-deep pads. �initial pass� is no slouch in the slouching department either with its luxuriant chords weaving around a subtly stomping beat. parisian legend ark takes to �london social club� and does a fine job of chopping up the original with his micro-editing ways. �all alone (shade morning remix)� is the perfect closer with its dreamy melodics and 80s boogie inspired beat.

killer roots on both sides, perfect companion to his sings songs- album! double sided heavyweight roots 10inch from the late gladdy anderson. made around the same time as his killer sings songs for today and tomorrow lp (now back in stock, click here!), here again are two killer tracks with gladdys sweet vocals over hard riddims from his band the roots radics. the a-side made the rounds as a dubplate first, then the vocal and dub ended up on different albums, while the b-side saw release as a single and an album track in extended format.

the second part of the jacob f. desvarieux anthology on endless flight brings three more productions of the fabled french zouk veteran with roots in guadeloupe.
the song �sika� by georges décimus, bass player of desvarieux�s band kassav, features outer-national synth works driven by salsa-like percussions and sweet steel-drum melodies, dancing around the seducing zouk guitar chords of desvarieux. a truely moving psychedelic zouk gem, that is for the first available on vinyl only since its release on georges décimus�s solo debut mini-album �la vie� in 1983.
the second song �avèou doudou� was firstly released in 1985 and was written by the martinique born zouk star and former kassav keyboarder jean-claude naimro. his tune spreads feathery synth-laden caribean boogy vibes, enlarged by his tempting voice and more zouk guitar magic by desvarieux. the third gem comes from the zouk pioneer patrick saint-éloi, listens to the name �do bay lan main�, was never re-released since 1984, features the former kassav singer saint-éloi on the microphone, electric piano, organ and mini moog and gets once again softly heated by jacob f. desvarieux�s enchanting zouk guitar virtuosity. as already on the jacob f. desvarieux: anthology pt 1. release, japanese producer for special affairs kuniyuki delivers a unique edit. his version of �sika� is made for eternalness dance floor moments. the steel drums dance with more magic than in the original. propelled by spaced out synth-sounds, echoed drums and the discreet guitar chords of desvarieux, kuniyuki�s version of �sika� is ready to be a mind-expanding summer hit on all open minded dancefloors around the globe.

the 12th installment in the falling ethics series is an adventurous piece of work. tensal and p.e.a.r.l. team up on this split ep to showcase their production styles which are mainly built around crafty drum loops and buoyant synth experiments.
tensal takes care of the a-side where he takes care of one flaming techno cut for the dancefloor which is followed up by two adventurous pieces of electronica.
p.e.a.r.l. also took care of three cuts on the b-side. the opening track �joy of rapture� is a straight forward demonstration of machine heavy techno. �fall before you� is a deep and soul wrenching cut that showcases p.e.a.r.l.�s more delicate side. �red flame� is a piece of horror reminiscent ambient.
